About

About Hugo Jonker
In a legal career spanning over 30 years, I’ve had the opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in multiple roles and fields of law. My journey began in the public sector as a Public Prosecutor and Magistrate and I then moved to the private sector as a practising Attorney, HR Manager and Labour Consultant. During this time I’ve acquired extensive legal knowledge and a wide range of practical skills in Criminal, Civil, Family and Labour Law.
As Public Prosecutor, Magistrate and practising Attorney I acquired critically important skills including analytical thinking, problem-solving, dispute resolution, mediation, negotiation, adjudication and litigation. In my role as HR Manager in the mining industry, I was exposed to all 8 functions of HR Management (recruitment, compensation, benefits, relations, compliance, organisational structure, information and training), and to challenging Industrial Relations in the form of militant trade unions, difficult collective bargaining, illegal strikes and disrupting protest action. As Labour Consultant I’ve represented many SMME’s and large corporations from various industries and sectors at the CCMA and Bargaining Councils in a wide range of disputes.
